Berke Can Özcan Solo

Berke’s new kind of solo set is under construction. This set will lead the way to sculpt the shape of his next solo album. Over the years he has struggled maintaining a consistent system of playing many objects and layers of sounds all together, now that he feels more confident with the way he works around all this multi-layered universe and wants to celebrate this new approach with a series of solo concerts.

Some of his old compositions (from the Big Beats Big Times catalogue and his very first solo album “Mountains are Mountains”) in their new look, some totally new songs built around the samples he inherited from his recently passed away beloved uncle H’s (who thought him chess, tennis, music and inspired him become a better person throughout his whole life) huge archive of sounds and images, some more musical ideas he keeps experimenting with all kinds of objects he happens to call “instruments” from terracotta flower pots (Berke is a florists son) to soda bottle caps (and a collector of junk) will be in the heart of this upcoming new solo set.

There are two working titles for the set now: “Personal Islands” and “All Islands are Mountains”. Here’s a sneak preview of how his understanding of his own songs “The Shepherd” and “Roots” have evolved from the day they were released back in 2020 up to now. “The Shepherd” was about a part time shepherd who spent half of the year up in the mountains and the other half creating and capturing music in a barn, what a life he has. And “Roots” has always been about going back to one’s own roots.

Come join him at his personal islands’ beaches and jungles.
